Steering Group Introduction

SHEADS was formed 16 years ago by a group Stafford Primary Headteachers at a time when it was clear that schools were going to be required to shape even more of their own destination. Its purpose was to play a central role in developing a cohesive and effective partnership of schools working together, with other agencies, and the local authority (LA) in order to maximise opportunities, enable well-being and promote excellence in leadership and learning for everyone. Since its inception all those years ago the educational landscape has changed significantly , with the whole school system being radically changed and more and more accountability being placed onto schools. It is therefore vital that Headteachers create time for themselves and refresh their own reservoirs of hope. SHEADS allows for this providing a network of supportive, like minded individuals that understand the pressures of the job. It gives access to professionals that are willing to share information and give advice using their own rich and varied experiences without judgement. SHEADS delivers relevant CPD that is guided by our needs and helps Headteachers to keep up to date with changes that impact our schools. Most importantly, it places children at the heart of all we do and strives to support this profession to continually improve outcomes for all.
